Training & Education

Welcome Training

HBN organizes a welcome meeting almost every month to meet and welcome the Au Pairs who have arrived. This meeting is obligatory to attend, and your host-family will arrange back up if needed so you will be able to attend.

We find it very important to meet you immediately upon arrival and for you to meet us. We will discuss the important legal aspects of the program and it will be very informative as we will give you tips and advice for the year. Next to that it is nice to get to know others and to share your first experiences with each other.

First Aid Training

We find it important that all our Au Pairs do a first aid course focused on children in the beginning of their Au Pair Program. Especially because Au Pairs are not qualified as nannies and did not follow a specific education to take care of children. Knowing how to prevent accidents from happening and knowing how to deal in case of life-threatening emergencies is a MUST if you work with children.

We plan First Aid courses every month and will invite all Au during their first months. We work with an official EHBO emergency trainer, Henriette, who will give the theoretical and practical training and will give out an Official Certificate First Aid Specialized Children. The course is given in English and Host Parents are always welcome to participate as well. You can find the fees on our fees page and the upcoming planned courses on the news page.

Mediation Sessions

We know the cultural differences and different expectations can be challenging for you and your Host Family. We do advice you separately how to deal with these differences, but sometimes it is even more helpful to discuss certain issues with both you and the Host Family. With the help of our involvement and guidance we will solve communication problems instantly.
