Our Team

Huisje Boompje Nanny (HBN) is a full service Au Pair Agency founded by Emeline van der Vecht-Vehmeijer in 2011 and has grown ever since.

As a Host Mother herself ..

She experienced the beauty  but also the cultural hurdles of the exchange program. She felt the need to  show other families the beauty of the program and give them the right tools to make the au pair program a success.

Together as a team…

We want this Au Pair year to be an unforgettable experience for both the family and Au Pair. That the times spend together results in lifelong friendships and build unforgettable memories for both.

With our new tailored online platform and our Official Recognized Sponsorship of the IND, we take care of all legal procedures and tedious paperwork in the process. Next to this we feel that the key of our success lies in our personal approach and expertise advise.  With each of our past individual experiences joining the Au Pair Program, we have build a training program and provide our Au Pairs and Host Families of the right tools to  guide and support them in a personal yet professional way. This is where we aspire to make a difference.

“We believe we can make a contribution to unite the world by connecting cultures in daily life and with that creating more open-mindedness in people’s minds. We feel the au pair program can bring peace & balance for young (working) parents on one side. And on the other side bringing an au pair to the Netherlands from abroad gives that person a life changing experience and the possibility for personal growth. It is a great way for both parties to  broaden horizons in a safe setting with the backup of a caring and professional team.”

Meet some of our team members....

Emeline van der Vecht-Vehmeijer

Founder/Director

Emeline is the founder of Huisje Boompje Nanny and has a background in International Marketing. She is a mom of 4 sons and has been a host mom for au pairs herself more than 15 years.

As a hardworking mother of 4 she personally experienced how tough it is to keep everything balanced; Your home, kids, work, your partner, sports and also wanting to keep a social life. After years of positive experiences with different Au Pairs, she decided to use her expertise and experience to guide other families through the Au Pair Program. She uses both her education (MBA) and her interesting background as a marketer to organize her business Huisje Boompje Nanny in a professional yet personal way.

“Being a host-family ourselves for over 15 years, we have experienced that the cultural exchange together with the help in household and child-care has an enormous added value to our family life.

We have a more balanced home and we and our kids get a taste of another culture, language and generation. Every year we make friendships for life and experience how every Au Pair  is going through a tremendous  personal growth.”

Fabienne Weisz

Placement Manager

Fabienne guides and supports Host Families through all the steps in the whole Au Pair Program and make sure all legal procedures are followed in the right way. She is also a mom of 3 kids and knows the struggles of a working parent and also knows how it is to live in another country and adapt to another culture.

“ Since I lived with my family in the States, just outside of New York for a couple of years , I know how it feels living abroad with a different culture, language and habits and I think it’s great to assist other au pairs to experience the same thing in The Netherlands and advising Host Families how to create the right environment.

I live with my partner and three kids and a dog in Bentveld. Close to the beach and to Haarlem, so for me that’s best of both worlds.

I studied Communications & Marketing in Amsterdam and worked as a producer at an advertising agency for 8 years. After that I got a job as an office manager, also in advertising.

I’m really excited to guide you through the program.”

Chantal Zubani

Placement Manager

Chantal guides and supports Host- Families through all the steps of the  Au Pair Program.  She has studied International Business & Languages and has a career in IT Marcom and has two teenage kids. Now she has over 3 years of experience guiding families and Au Pairs in the HBN Au Pair Program.

“From a personal perspective I know how important it is to create balance in your private and working life. And I love the fact that families, especially young children get to interact and learn about different cultures. For our au pairs this is also a great way to expand their horizon and help them grow.

I live in lovely Bergen with my husband and our two teenage kids and love to travel, ski, walk our dog and go mountain biking. After more than 20 years in marketing communication roles in the IT industry, I find it great to see how HBN uses technology to streamline the core processes. This saves a lot of paperwork, makes sure we have the important, legal stuff in place and gives us extra time to focus on personal contact with our host families and au pairs. And get the best match.”

Lezaan Marais

Operational & Counseling Assistant

Lezaan screens, advises and give guidance to the Au pairs during every step of the process before and during their stay. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education for High School learners.

“I am from South Africa and during my studies in South Africa I was an Au pair for 3 years for 2 different families. It was always part of my 5 year plan to first complete my studies and then embark on this unknown adventure of being  an Aupair  abroad.  Little did I know it was going to be life changing.

It was a year full of self-growth and discovery. I came back to South Africa and taught Geography and History for a while, but decided I want to encourage and inspire young women to step out of their comfort zone and go see the world and find their true self. Being an Aupair will be full of ups and downs, but believe me, it is well worth it, as you will walk away with lifelong memories, personal growth and a hunger for adventure.”

Julia Alonso

“I’m Julia! Proudly Brazilian and absolutely fascinated by discovering new cultures. After graduating in International Relations, I decided to explore the world. I packed my bags and off I went, becoming an Au Pair in the Netherlands. It was the best experience ever. But guess what? Today I live in Amsterdam and have started working at HBN! Surrounded by different cultures and languages every day, I’m living the dream. HBN made it happen, and I’m super thankful.”
